MNGL Ramps Up PNG Rollout by 250%, Adds 500 New Connections Daily

Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has scaled up its piped natural gas rollout by 250%, now installing around 500 new connections daily, as the company expands its CNG and PNG network across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad amid rising demand.

Pune: Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has significantly ramped up its piped natural gas (PNG) rollout, boosting installations by 250% and now adding approximately 500 new connections every day, as demand for cleaner fuel options continues to rise across the Pune region.

The company currently operates 131 CNG stations across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, serving over 6 lakh CNG vehicles. Daily CNG consumption has crossed 14 lakh standard cubic metres per day (SCMD), with demand continuing to climb, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season.

To strengthen its gas supply infrastructure, MNGL is nearing completion of pipeline looping work at Talegaon and is laying a 60-km trunk pipeline from Navhare. Another pipeline looping project is currently underway at Dighi, with all three initiatives aimed at improving the long-term reliability of gas supply across the network.

On the expansion front, MNGL opened 11 new CNG stations over the past year and has plans to add 9 more during the current financial year. The company has also installed 17 additional CNG dispensers at high-traffic outlets to ease congestion and reduce waiting times for consumers.

Officials said the combined push on infrastructure and network expansion is aimed at meeting the city’s growing demand for both CNG and PNG, while supporting Pune’s broader transition toward cleaner fuel alternatives.
