Anna Bansode has been appointed trustee on the People’s Education Society Governing Board at a meeting chaired by Ramdas Athawale in Mumbai.
Mumbai, September 10: Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker and MLA Anna Bansode has been appointed as a trustee on the Governing Board of the People’s Education Society, founded by Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The appointment was made at a meeting of the Society’s executive committee held at the Garware Club in Mumbai under the chairmanship of Union Minister of State for Social Justice and People’s Education Society president Ramdas Athawale.
Bansode said he would work to strengthen the Society’s educational initiatives and carry forward Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of using education as a means of social empowerment.
He said expanding educational opportunities, providing modern facilities to students and taking Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas and educational vision to students at the grassroots level would be among his key priorities.
The People’s Education Society was established by Dr. Ambedkar to promote education and create opportunities for socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society. Bansode said he would focus on further strengthening the institution’s educational outreach.
Welcoming the appointment, Athawale said Bansode’s experience and leadership would strengthen the Society’s governing body and provide fresh momentum to its educational and social initiatives.
The meeting was attended by former UGC chairman Sukhadeo Thorat, director Ujjwal Nikam, Dr Vasudev Gade, B. K. Barve, Vishwas Patil, Dr Venkata Swamy, Arvind Sontakke and Dr S. K. Bhagwat, besides other members of the executive committee and distinguished guests.
Bansode’s appointment to the Governing Board is expected to further strengthen the Society’s efforts to promote education and advance the educational legacy of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
