ACB Pune books an accounts officer and a clerk from Daund Municipal Council for demanding monthly bribes from a security-guard and labour-supply agency. Case registered at Daund Police Station.
DAUND, 07 November 2025 – The Anti-Corruption Bureau has filed a case against two officials of the Daund Municipal Council after an investigation revealed they were demanding bribes every month from a private agency supplying security guards and labourers. The accused are identified as accounts officer Bhagyashree Bhalchandra Yelve, a 29-year-old resident of Ramdara in Loni Kalbhor, and clerk Omkar Sanjay Mense, 37, from Hudco Colony in Shirur. The agency had provided manpower to the council and submitted its bills as required, but officials allegedly began insisting on monthly kickbacks to clear payments.
According to the complaint, Yelve demanded ten thousand rupees every month for herself while Mense sought five thousand monthly. Further demands surfaced during the probe: Yelve allegedly sought twenty-five thousand and twenty thousand on two occasions for contract-related approvals, and later another ten thousand for issuing supplementary orders. During verification conducted on 7 and 10 March 2025, the ACB team found that Yelve had asked for an additional fourteen to fifteen thousand for herself and forty-five thousand on behalf of another official. At the same time, Mense was found demanding five thousand for himself and more than ten thousand for Yelve as part of pending payments for the previous two months.
With verification complete, ACB officers registered the case at Daund Police Station. The operation took place under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional SP Ajit Patil. Assistant Police Commissioner Nita Misal oversaw the action, with APC Bharti More carrying out the field work.
For the agency involved, the situation highlights how routine billing can turn into a prolonged financial burden when officials misuse their authority. For the public, the case adds to growing concerns about how deeply embedded such practices may be within local bodies. Investigators are expected to examine whether any other staff members were involved and whether the pattern of monthly bribe-demanding extends beyond this single agency.
The municipal council is likely to face questions about its internal checks and how two officials were able to operate this system for months. As the case moves forward, the ACB will study past transactions, payment approvals and contract files to determine the full extent of the wrongdoing. The arrests have brought relief to the complainant agency, and officials say the evidence indicates a clear pattern of extortion that now must be addressed through a thorough legal process.
