Akkalkot Royal Visit to Pune Draws Devotees; Rare Suryamani Darshan After 150 Years

A spiritual event in Pune witnessed an overwhelming response as devotees gathered for the rare Suryamani darshan after 150 years, alongside insights into the upcoming Project Anubhuti initiative

Pune | 19 March, 2026: A major spiritual event was held in Pune from March 17 to 19 in the presence of Malojiraje Bhosale III, the current head of the Akkalkot royal lineage. The highlight of the event was the rare public display of the sacred “Suryamani,” a revered relic associated with Shri Swami Samarth.

According to available information, the Suryamani was brought outside Akkalkot for the first time in nearly 150 years, offering devotees in Pune a unique opportunity to witness it. The event drew a large number of devotees not only from Pune but also from various parts of Maharashtra, reflecting the deep-rooted spiritual significance of the tradition.

Malojiraje Bhosale III, who assumed leadership of the Akkalkot royal family in 2018, has been actively working towards preserving the spiritual and cultural heritage associated with Shri Swami Samarth. His initiatives have focused on strengthening Akkalkot’s identity as a major pilgrimage destination while improving facilities for devotees.

During the event, details of the ambitious “Project Anubhuti” were also shared with attendees. The project, planned across approximately 40 to 50 acres in Akkalkot, aims to blend spirituality with modern infrastructure. It proposes a 108-foot statue of Shri Swami Samarth, meditation centres, immersive spiritual experience zones, cultural spaces, and wellness facilities for visitors.

The project is being developed under the Chatri Trust, focusing on preserving tradition while introducing contemporary amenities. The Pune event not only offered a rare spiritual experience but also generated interest in Akkalkot’s future as a prominent spiritual and tourism hub.
