Army Day 2026, six Indian Army units, including the Intelligence and Field Security Unit (IFSU), received Unit Citations for outstanding service, bravery, and operational excellence along the Eastern Ladakh border
New Delhi|06 February,2026: On the occasion of Army Day, Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS), presented Unit Citations to six Indian Army formations for exemplary service, highlighting the contributions of the Intelligence and Field Security Unit (IFSU) in Eastern Ladakh.

The award ceremony saw Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh hand over the citation to IFSU’s Commanding Officer, Colonel Jitendra Singh, and Subedar Major Mandeep Singh. The recognition honours the unit’s dedication, operational efficiency, and acts of bravery while deployed along the India-China border in the strategically sensitive Leh-Ladakh region.
Operating in high-altitude and challenging terrain for the past two years, the IFSU has played a crucial role in maintaining vigilance, gathering field intelligence, and ensuring security under extreme weather conditions and constant operational pressure. Their discipline and courage have been instrumental in safeguarding national security and stability in the border areas.

Senior Army officers lauded the professionalism and commitment of all six awarded units, stating that their performance reflects the Indian Army’s core values of courage, integrity, and selfless service. Unit Citations are among the highest collective honours in the Indian Army, reserved for units demonstrating exceptional dedication and operational excellence.
