Adelaide, October 23, 2025 – Australia secured a commanding 2-wicket victory over India in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval, clinching an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The hosts successfully chased down India’s total of 264/9 with 22 balls to spare, achieving the target in 46.2 overs.

India, opting to bat first after losing the toss, faced early setbacks with the loss of two quick wickets, including captain Shubman Gill for just 9 runs. Despite these early challenges, Rohit Sharma (73 runs) and Shreyas Iyer (61 runs) stabilized the innings with a 118-run partnership for the third wicket. However, India’s momentum was disrupted by Australia’s bowlers, with Adam Zampa and Xavier Bartlett taking key wickets. Zampa’s 4-wicket haul and Bartlett’s 3 wickets were instrumental in restricting India to a total below 265 runs.

In response, Australia encountered brief challenges but were steadied by Matthew Short’s 74 runs and Cooper Connolly’s unbeaten 61 runs. Connolly’s composed innings, along with vital contributions from Mitch Owen (36 runs) and Matt Renshaw (30 runs), guided Australia to victory. Zampa’s all-round performance, contributing both with the ball and the bat, earned him the Player of the Match award.

This victory marks Australia’s second consecutive win in the series, with the final ODI scheduled in Sydney on Saturday. The win also ended India’s unbeaten streak in Adelaide since 2008, highlighting Australia’s dominance in the match.
