Bengaluru Doctor Arrested for Killing His Wife Using Anaesthetic Overdose
A Bengaluru surgeon is arrested for allegedly killing his wife by administering a lethal dose of Propofol, masking it as medical treatment.
Bengaluru, October 17, 2025: In a shocking case from Bengaluru, a surgeon has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife by administering a lethal dose of anaesthetic drug Propofol. The couple, both doctors, had married less than a year ago, and authorities say the husband used his medical knowledge to disguise the act as routine treatment for digestive issues.
Investigations revealed that the victim had complained of gastric discomfort in April 2025. The husband reportedly gave her multiple intravenous injections at home under the pretense of treatment. He instructed her not to remove the cannula and administered repeated doses during the night. When her condition worsened, she was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead upon arrival. Initial reports treated the case as an unnatural death, but forensic analysis raised suspicions of foul play.
Further investigation by the police, prompted by the victim’s family, uncovered traces of Propofol and other sedatives in her system, confirming the overdose was deliberate. Authorities recovered syringes, cannulas, and other medical paraphernalia from the couple’s residence, which suggested intentional administration of the drug.
During questioning, the doctor allegedly confessed to the crime. Investigators say the motive appears to be a combination of marital discord, financial disputes, and resentment over undisclosed health conditions his wife may have had prior to marriage. Police are continuing to examine hospital records, medication logs, and other evidence to ensure a thorough investigation.
This case has raised serious concerns about misuse of medical knowledge and access to potent drugs. Experts emphasize that healthcare professionals have a heightened responsibility, and such deliberate misuse undermines public trust in the medical community.
Authorities are now preparing to file formal charges under relevant sections of the criminal code, and the court will oversee custody and trial proceedings. Forensic audits and detailed examinations of all medical interactions between the couple are ongoing to provide conclusive evidence for the prosecution.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of how professional expertise can be misused for personal motives and underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring of medical practices. Families and healthcare institutions are urged to be aware of unusual prescription practices and report suspicious activities to ensure patient safety.
