Surendra Pathare, contesting from Ward No. 04, is a highly qualified engineer and a gold medalist from the prestigious College of Engineering Pune. Known for his academic excellence and professional competence, he recently joined the BJP in the presence of senior leader Ravindra Chavan. Following his induction, BJP leaders and workers have expressed confidence that the party’s organisational strength in eastern Pune has received a significant boost. Under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP has consistently promoted capable and educated leadership, and Pathare’s candidature is being viewed as a reflection of that approach.

Local residents have reacted positively to Surendra Pathare’s entry into civic politics, expressing hope that his technical background will help address pressing urban challenges such as traffic congestion, road planning, water management, and sustainable infrastructure development. Voters believe that professionals with hands-on problem-solving experience are better equipped to handle the complex demands of a rapidly expanding urban region like eastern Pune.

Aishwarya Pathare, who has filed her nomination from Ward No. 03, has also emerged as a strong and influential candidate. A well-educated entrepreneur and committed social worker, she has been actively engaged in women empowerment and community development initiatives for several years. Her contributions have been recognised at the state and national levels, including the Maharashtra Government’s Youth Award in 2014 and the Financial Times Business Award in 2022.

Through the “Sakhi Prerna Manch” platform, Aishwarya Pathare has spearheaded initiatives focused on women leadership, self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and social awareness. Her efforts have brought together thousands of women from the Wadgaon Sheri area. One of her most widely discussed initiatives, the Jejuri Haridra Martand Puja, became a symbol of social unity by combining religious participation with collective women’s engagement, significantly strengthening her grassroots connect.

Political analysts note that the BJP’s decision to field both Surendra and Aishwarya Pathare reflects a conscious strategy to promote educated, socially rooted candidates in civic governance. In Pune, where voters are increasingly demanding transparency, efficiency, and accountability, such candidates are seen as credible alternatives to conventional political figures.

The dual candidatures are also expected to energise BJP’s booth-level machinery, as the couple’s combined professional expertise and social work present a compelling narrative of development-driven leadership. Opposition parties are closely observing the developments, aware that the Pathare duo could influence voter sentiment in these closely contested wards.

As the Pune Municipal Corporation elections draw closer, eastern Pune continues to emerge as a key battleground. With rapid urbanisation and growing civic expectations, voters are looking for representatives who can blend administrative capability with social sensitivity. As of December 30, 2025, the entry of Surendra Pathare and Aishwarya Pathare has added a fresh dimension to Pune’s civic election discourse, placing leadership quality and public engagement at the centre of political debate.
