Chandrakant Patil raises questions over a 40-acre Kondhwa land deal linked to Parth Pawar, hinting that Ajit Pawar may face political heat. Probe already underway.

PUNE,07 November 2025 – BJP leader Chandrakant Patil has put the spotlight on a massive 40-acre land transaction in Pune’s Kondhwa area, suggesting that the deal involving Parth Pawar may have political implications for Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Speaking to reporters, Patil said the land was transferred at a suspiciously low price despite carrying a valuation in the hundreds of crores and added that the paperwork and timing raise valid questions. He pointed out that the land’s status as Mahar Watan property should have required strict scrutiny, yet the transfer was completed in just a few days.

Patil claimed that stamp duty worth around twenty-one crore rupees was waived and that the deal moved unusually fast for a parcel of this scale. He said such a transaction cannot happen without the knowledge of government machinery and argued that the investigation ordered by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis needs to be thorough. Patil hinted that Ajit Pawar may face pressure because the matter involves his relative, and he stressed that political proximity should not shield anyone from accountability.

The land is believed to have been transferred through a company linked to Parth Pawar for a price close to three hundred crore rupees, though activists say the actual market value is significantly higher. Opposition parties have seized the moment, describing the deal as an example of how political influence can distort land governance. They have demanded that every approval, waiver and signature involved in the transfer be scrutinised.

Ajit Pawar has rejected the insinuation that he played any role in the transaction. He said he had no involvement, no knowledge of the finer details and no interaction with officials connected to the process. Parth Pawar has also defended the deal, saying it is legally sound and fully documented. A sub-registrar connected to the transaction has already been suspended, and a multi-member committee is reviewing the sequence of approvals.

The case has drawn intense attention because it connects land value, caste-linked property categories, corporate structures and political relationships. Mahar Watan land carries special restrictions, and its transfer typically requires multiple levels of verification. When such land, especially in a high-value urban zone like Kondhwa, is sold swiftly, questions naturally rise around whether rules were followed or bypassed.

For the BJP, Patil’s remarks signal that the party is prepared to publicly question anything that appears irregular, regardless of who is connected to it. For Ajit Pawar and his camp, the comments add political strain at a sensitive moment. The larger test now is how transparent and unbiased the probe will be. A clear and credible investigation will shape public perception of the government’s commitment to clean governance, while anything seen as evasive could deepen political distrust. The outcome of the review will determine whether the issue remains a political talking point or escalates into a long-term legal and administrative battle.
