BJP in NMC’s new 16‑member standing committee, BJP has nine members with a notable number of women representatives, reflecting its continued influence in local governance
Nashik | 17 February 2026:The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has formed its crucial standing committee of 16 members, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) securing a clear majority, reflecting its party strength in the civic body following the January elections. Representatives from the BJP, including several women corporators, were elected unopposed to the committee, which plays a key role in civic decision‑making and financial approvals.

Alongside the BJP’s nine members, the Eknath Shinde‑led Shiv Sena group is represented with four seats, two members come from the Shiv Sena (UBT)‑Congress alliance, and one member represents an independent/NCP group, underscoring a multi‑party composition that mirrors the assembly’s political balance. Mayor Himgouri Aaher‑Adke presided over the special general body meeting where the appointments were finalised.

With the BJP’s numerical advantage, the committee chairpersonship is expected to be awarded to a BJP nominee. The committee’s formation marks another step in the civic body’s organisational process ahead of key administrative decisions in Nashik.
