Bombay High Court on Monday issued notice to the Pune Police seeking a response on businesswoman Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani’s bail plea in the alleged Mundhwa land deal case, intensifying legal proceedings in the controversial land transaction

Mumbai | 17 February 2026: The Bombay High Court has asked the Pune Police to file a reply to the bail application filed by Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani, who was arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in a multi‑crore land deal in Mundhwa, Pune. This case involves accusations that Mahar Watan land, leased to the Botanical Survey of India, was sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP without mandatory state government approval, with the Pune Police registering an FIR under numerous sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Tejwani’s plea challenges both the police custody and remand orders and seeks bail, but the sessions court earlier observed the matter to be an “elite scam” when rejecting her application. Her counsel argued in the High Court that she is a single mother of two minors and urged urgent hearing. Justice Shivkumar G Dige issued a notice returnable on 6 March, directing the Pune Police to respond. The bail challenge also includes efforts to quash the FIR and remand orders against her.

The allegation has drawn scrutiny due to its political connections, as the firm involved in the transaction is reportedly linked to Parth, son of the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, although he has not been named in the FIR.
