Police arrested Anil Bagri brother of Pratima Bagri seizing 46 kg cannabis from his vehicle home after tip‑off. Raid exposes large‑scale drug racket; NDPS charges filed against accused.
Satna (Madhya Pradesh) 09| December 2025:In a major anti‑narcotics operation, Satna police late Sunday night arrested Anil Bagri brother of Pratima Bagri, Minister of State for Urban Development and Housing in connection with a large‑scale cannabis trafficking racket. Authorities recovered 46 kg of marijuana concealed in sacks under paddy from a house linked to the accused.
The raid, conducted by Rampur Baghelan police team on a tip-off, also led to the arrest of another suspect, identified as Pankaj Singh Baghel, from whose residence the contraband had been transported. Police detained both men under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to the police, the illegal consignment was transported in an SUV by Anil Bagri to Pankaj Singh’s home in the village of Marahunha late on December 4. Investigators are probing whether this network has links across state lines, and suspect involvement of yet another accused, Shailendra Singh Rajawat (also known as “Shibbu”), who was previously arrested in a drug‑related case in Uttar Pradesh and is currently in custody. The seized 46 kg of cannabis is valued at roughly ₹9–10 lakh. Police say the mode of operation using agricultural sacks and rural hideouts points to a well‑organized smuggling racket, not an isolated case.

The development has set off a political firestorm. Opposition parties have demanded a full‑scale judicial inquiry, questioning the credentials of the political establishment. Meanwhile, the ruling party has remained silent, intensifying scrutiny of the government’s oversight.
Local administration has launched a comprehensive investigation into the supply chain, distribution network, and possible links with other narcotics cases, promising strict legal action if further offenders are identified.
