Chakan to Get First 350‑Bed ESIC Hospital After MIDC Allots 8.5 Acres in Major Healthcare Boost

Chakan MIDC gets 8.5 acres allotted for the region’s first 350‑bed ESIC hospital, expanding advanced healthcare access for industrial workers.
Pune | 16 February, 2026- In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in western Maharashtra, the Chakan industrial region is set to receive its first 350‑bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital after the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) allotted 8.5 acres of land for the project. The hospital aims to address the growing medical needs of insured workers in one of the state’s busiest industrial corridors, which has long demanded a full-scale facility to ensure timely and comprehensive medical care.
Officials from ESIC confirmed that the land allotment clears a significant hurdle for the project. With the plot officially secured, detailed planning and construction are expected to commence soon. ESIC authorities highlighted that the number of insured workers in Chakan MIDC has increased substantially in recent years, making the hospital a vital addition to the region’s healthcare network.

The new hospital will serve not only Chakan Phase II but also surrounding areas such as Talegaon and Khed‑Rajgurunagar, which house thousands of manufacturing units and a large workforce. Industry representatives have welcomed the development, stating that the hospital will provide accessible medical care for workers, reducing the need to travel long distances for advanced treatment.
Currently, the region’s ESIC facilities are limited and often unable to provide specialised treatment. Many workers rely on empanelled private hospitals or distant government institutions for advanced care. The new 350‑bed hospital aims to bridge this gap by offering inpatient and outpatient services, emergency care, and specialised medical departments under one roof.
Alongside Chakan, ESIC has also planned 100‑bed hospitals in nearby industrial regions to expand healthcare coverage. These initiatives reflect a broader push to strengthen the network of ESIC hospitals across Maharashtra, ensuring that industrial workers have equitable access to quality medical facilities.
The hospital project aligns with recent state government policies that prioritise healthcare infrastructure for insured workers. Authorities have approved land allotment for ESIC hospitals at minimal cost and are expediting project clearances to ensure timely implementation.
Healthcare experts note that the establishment of a large-scale ESIC hospital in Chakan will relieve pressure on existing medical centres and improve access to specialised care for industrial employees. With over seven lakh insured workers in the area, the facility is expected to become a critical healthcare hub, providing services ranging from routine check-ups to emergency treatment and advanced diagnostics.
Planners also emphasise that the hospital’s strategic location within MIDC Phase II will make it accessible for workers commuting from surrounding industrial zones. Construction timelines and project planning are expected to be finalised soon, with worker organisations and residents advocating for swift execution to realise the benefits at the earliest.
