Athani, Belagavi | December 15, 2025:A grand ceremony was held in Athani, Belagavi district on Sunday as Union Communications and Development Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia unveiled a 25‑foot equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, marking a cultural milestone for the region. The event brought together leaders, dignitaries, and community members who gathered to honour the memory and ideals of the Maratha warrior king.

In his address, Scindia described the occasion as more than a mere unveiling. He said the statue symbolises India’s self‑respect, courage, and the enduring spirit of Hindavi Swaraj, which Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj championed. Scindia emphasised that the values of fearlessness, patriotism, and self‑belief embodied by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj continue to inspire people across generations.

Highlighting Athani and Belagavi’s historical connection to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s campaigns in South India, he added that the region played a strategic role in securing routes across the Deccan, Konkan, and Goa. The installation of the statue on this soil was described as a moment that bridges history with the present, reflecting pride in cultural heritage.
Scindia also said that as India moves forward with cultural resurgence and national self‑confidence under current leadership, the lessons from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life are increasingly relevant.
