Anthropic has expanded Claude AI’s Microsoft 365 integration, allowing all users including those on the free plan to connect their Outlook and Teams accounts to search and analyse emails, chats and calendar events directly.

April 5, 2026 | New Delhi: Anthropic, the AI startup behind Claude, has rolled out a significant update to its chatbot, enabling all users including those on free plans to leverage a Microsoft 365 connector that lets Claude directly access, search and analyse data from Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Calendar without manually uploading files. Previously, this powerful integration was limited to paid Team and Enterprise customers, but with the latest change, even free users can tap into their Microsoft 365 ecosystem through Claude.
The Microsoft 365 connector offers read-only access to users’ work data, enabling Claude to comb through recent emails, thread metadata, Teams chat messages, meeting transcripts and documents stored in SharePoint or OneDrive. With this expanded access, users can quickly find specific communications, calendar events or documents by using natural language queries. Claude’s ability to pull real-time context from Microsoft 365 makes it more than just a chatbot it becomes a context-aware digital assistant that can help with daily tasks and reasoning. Setting up the Microsoft 365 connector requires users to authenticate with a work account tied to a Microsoft Entra tenant, and for organisational deployments the tenant’s Global Administrator must grant consent before team members can connect. Once authorised, users can activate the connector through the Connectors menu in Claude and begin querying their Outlook, Teams and other Microsoft data within the AI interface.

Anthropic emphasises that the connector currently provides read-only access, meaning Claude cannot send emails, schedule meetings, create or edit documents on users’ behalf. However, the ability to search across multiple Microsoft 365 services makes Claude a versatile productivity tool for professionals seeking insights from their communications and files without switching between apps. This move by Anthropic aligns with broader trends in AI integration, as enterprise tools increasingly embed AI across workflows a strategy also seen in products like Microsoft’s own Copilot Cowork, which harnesses AI to ground work using email, meetings and data across Office apps.
