IGL raises CNG price by ₹1 per kg in select cities starting 16 Nov. Pune and Mumbai unaffected for now.

Pune | November17 ,2025: From 6 a.m. on Sunday, 16 November 2025, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by ₹1 per kilogram in several cities under its network. The change comes amid rising input costs and is expected to impact transport operators including auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers in the affected regions.

The rate hike applies only to certain cities — notably those in the National Capital Region such as Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Kanpur — where IGL has clarified the revision via its official social-media channels. Meanwhile, the CNG tariff in Pune and Mumbai remains unchanged for the time being, and local distributors in these cities have not announced any new rates.

For commuters and fleet operators in the impacted cities, the rise in CNG pricing may translate into slightly higher fares or operating costs. With petrol and diesel prices holding steady recently, the increase in CNG could push some of the cost burden onto passengers or transport services. The company has clarified that customers should verify the latest tariff via official IGL channels, cautioning against viral rumours about wider price hikes

From an industry perspective, the adjustment reflects ongoing pressure on energy firms to manage costs, especially with fluctuations in natural‐gas feed stock, distribution logistics and regulatory levies. For now, operators in cities yet unaffected may be watching closely, as such adjustments often foreshadow broader changes across regions.

In summary, while the CNG price increase is not applicable in Pune or Mumbai right now, commuters in the specified IGL-network cities will pay ₹1 more per kg from mid-November. Users in other zones should keep an eye on official announcements and verify local tariffs before anticipation of further changes.
