CSK and Rajasthan Royals complete a major three-team swap involving Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, finalised ahead of the IPL 2026 retention deadline.

New Delhi | November 15, 2025: Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have completed one of the biggest trades ahead of the IPL 2026 season, marking a major reshuffle in both squads. Sanju Samson will join CSK, while Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran will move to Rajasthan Royals. The deal was finalised shortly before the retention window deadline, ending weeks of speculation surrounding the high-profile swap.

The trade brings Samson back into a leadership environment at CSK, where the franchise is expected to build a stable middle-order around him. His consistency and finishing ability add strength to Chennai’s batting plans as the team gradually transitions into a post-Dhoni phase. For CSK, securing an Indian wicket-keeper batter of Samson’s calibre helps maintain balance and flexibility in the squad.

On the other side, Jadeja’s move to Rajasthan marks a significant homecoming. The all-rounder began his IPL journey with the Royals and now returns as one of the league’s most experienced performers. His finishing ability, left-arm spin and fielding are expected to play a central role in RR’s strategy for the 2026 season. Sam Curran’s inclusion adds further depth, giving the franchise a dependable middle-order hitter and a seam-bowling option.

The agreement aligns the financial values of the players, with Samson and Jadeja reportedly carrying equal trade weight, which simplified negotiations. Earlier delays were linked to Rajasthan’s overseas player limitations, but the structure was finalised after both teams resolved those concerns.

The trade marks a key moment in the run-up to the 2026 auction, with both franchises strengthening core departments ahead of a crucial season.
