Deadly Fire at Bhiwadi Chemical Factory: 7 Workers Burnt Alive, 2 Trapped as Blaze Rips Through Khushkhera Industrial Area

A catastrophic fire erupted at a chemical factory in the Khushkhera‑Karoli industrial area of Bhiwadi on Monday morning, resulting in the deaths of at least seven workers, with two others still feared trapped inside the blaze, officials said

Bhiwadi| Rajasthan, February 16, 2026: The inferno broke out around 9:22–9:30 am at the plant, which stores large quantities of chemicals, causing intense flames and thick smoke that engulfed much of the unit. Authorities say as many as nine workers were inside when the fire started, and rescue teams have so far recovered seven charred bodies from the premises. Efforts are underway to reach the remaining trapped workers.

Police and fire brigade teams were alerted after a routine patrol identified the blaze, prompting an urgent dispatch of firefighting units from Khushkhera and Bhiwadi stations. Firefighters battled the ferocious flames for over an hour before gaining partial control of the fire, as rescue personnel continued to search through debris.

Additional District Magistrate Sumita Mishra said the incident was first noticed during patrol duties, and officials immediately launched relief and rescue operations. Injured workers some of whom suffered severe burns were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The tragedy has raised serious concerns over workplace safety standards and industrial hazard management in the region. Leaders including Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra have urged authorities to conduct comprehensive inquiries and improve safety protocols to prevent similar incidents.

Local administrative officials and police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the blaze and the status of the workers still unaccounted for. Rescue operations remain ongoing as families and the community await updates.
