Defence Secretary visited Bhuj and creek areas, reviewing operational readiness, infrastructure growth, joint surveillance systems and multi-agency coastal exercise highlighting integrated defence capabilities and government focus on future-ready armed forces.

Bhuj| February 06,2026: Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh visited Bhuj on February 4 and 5 to review operational preparedness and ongoing capability development in forward areas of the Creek Sector. During the visit, he interacted with senior military leadership and was briefed on the security situation and readiness posture along the sensitive border region.

The Defence Secretary reviewed initiatives aligned with the Indian Army’s Decade of Transformation Roadmap, aimed at strengthening technological capabilities, infrastructure resilience and multi-domain operational effectiveness of the force. Emphasis was placed on improved coordination, rapid response mechanisms and enhanced situational awareness in challenging terrain.

He also visited the Joint Control Centre, where officials outlined efforts to integrate multi-source sensor inputs for a unified surveillance picture, enabling timely and informed decision-making for commanders on the ground. The visit included the inauguration of a Monumental Flag in the border region, symbolising national pride and unity, followed by an operational demonstration of new-generation weapon systems.

As part of the programme, the Defence Secretary observed Exercise ‘TATRAKSHA’, a multi-agency coastal and amphibious exercise involving the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard and the Border Security Force. The exercise demonstrated real-time surveillance, precision engagement, joint logistics and coordinated responses to emerging maritime and border threats.

The visit underscored the government’s continued focus on strengthening jointness, enhancing infrastructure, promoting indigenisation and building resilient, future-ready armed forces capable of addressing evolving security challenges.
