Pune | 25 March, 2026:
A vibrant cultural evening is set to unfold in Pune as alumni of Deccan Education Society come together to present “DES Rang – Sangeet Sohala,” a large-scale showcase of music, dance, and artistic performances. The event, scheduled for April 4 at Bharat Natya Mandir, is expected to feature participation from nearly 250 to 300 alumni spanning batches from 1975 to 2025.

The event will begin at 9:00 PM and is open to all citizens, with organisers extending a public invitation to experience an evening celebrating talent, nostalgia, and community bonding. The initiative reflects a unique coming together of generations, with participants representing over five decades of the institution’s legacy.

The selection process for the performances has been extensive and structured. Interested alumni were initially asked to submit videos showcasing their talents. From these entries, around 160 participants were shortlisted and invited for auditions. The final rounds were conducted at Shivranjani Studio, where performers were evaluated before making it to the main event lineup.

One such participant, Manjusha Thaware Joshi, successfully progressed through multiple rounds, highlighting the competitive yet encouraging nature of the selection process.

The event is being coordinated under the leadership of Vijay Mishra, who has played a key role in mentoring and guiding participants throughout the preparation phase. Several contributors, including Yogesh Tapasvi, Omkar Kelkar, Vinayak Dharu, Vinay Ghuman, Kumar Zore, Chintamani Kelkar, Shailesh Diwakar, and Manish Khadilkar, have also been actively involved in shaping the performances and supporting the participants.

Beyond entertainment, the programme carries a deeper purpose. Organisers have emphasized that “DES Rang – Sangeet Sohala” is not just a cultural gathering but also a platform to strengthen alumni connections and celebrate shared roots. The event also aims to support economically weaker alumni and students, giving it a meaningful social dimension.

The initiative reflects the core philosophy of the Deccan Education Society, rooted in unity and collective strength. By bringing together alumni across generations, the organisers hope to foster a renewed sense of belonging and collaboration within the community.

With preparations in full swing and enthusiasm building among participants, organisers are optimistic about a strong turnout. The event is expected to draw a diverse audience, including students, alumni, and Pune residents eager to witness a unique blend of talent and tradition on one stage.
