NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) has accused BJP of manipulating Pune Municipal Corporation’s tender process for six STP projects worth ₹1,860 crore, alleging large-scale corruption and financial misuse.

Pune | November 04, 2025: The Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) has alleged major irregularities in the tender process of six newly approved Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), collectively valued at ₹1,860 crore.

Led by city president Prashant Jagtap, NCP members staged a strong protest outside the PMC building on Monday, accusing the administration of awarding the tenders to a company owned by a BJP office-bearer. The protesters claimed that the ruling party had misused the tender process to benefit its associates at the cost of public funds.

Jagtap alleged that BJP leaders deliberately altered tender conditions to ensure their associate’s company secured the contract. “Several clauses were relaxed to suit one particular bidder, resulting in potential corruption worth nearly ₹500 crore,” he said during the protest.

Senior leaders including MLA Bapusaheb Pathare, Nilesh Nikam, Nitin Kadam, Pappu Gogle, Kishor Kamble, Asha Sane, Asif Sheikh, Amogh Dhamale, Dilshad Attar, Ganesh Nalawade, Rohan Paigude, Rupali Shelar, Ajinkya Palkar, Mangesh More, and Shailendra Bhelekhar participated in the agitation.

The protesters raised slogans against the alleged misuse of taxpayers’ money and demanded immediate cancellation of the tenders. They urged the civic administration to conduct an independent inquiry and ensure transparency in all future tender processes.

No official response has yet been issued by the Pune Municipal Corporation or BJP representatives regarding the allegations. However, the issue has sparked political debate across the city, with opposition parties demanding accountability in one of the city’s largest infrastructure projects.
