Dipali Patil , Dancer’s Death in Ahilyanagar Lodged Epilogue as Sandeep Gaikwad Arrested on Abetment Charges

Dancer Dipali Patil (35) was found dead by suicide in a lodge in Jamkhed, Ahilyanagar. Police have arrested former BJP corporator Sandeep Gaikwad accused of pressuring her to marry on suspicion of abetment.

Ahilyanagar / Jamkhed|06 December 2025:On 5 December 2025, police discovered the body of 35-year-old dancer Dipali Patil at a lodge on Kharda Road in Jamkhed’s Tapneshwar area. The door of the locked room was opened using a duplicate key, and she was found hanging.

Initial enquiries by the Jamkhed police revealed that the woman’s mother had previously filed complaints alleging that Sandeep Gaikwad  a former municipal corporator linked to a major political party  repeatedly pressured the dancer to marry him.

Based on the evidence and the complaint, police have invoked Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (abetment of suicide) and arrested Sandeep Gaikwad. He was reportedly on the run but has now been taken into custody.

Local political reactions have been strong: a regional legislator demanded a thorough, unbiased investigation   raising questions about possible complicity or pressure by influential actors.

The case has sparked broader debate about the vulnerability of performing-artists in small towns, power dynamics and whether adequate protections exist for people facing persistent harassment.
