Doctor daughter attacks elderly father over property dispute, bites off his finger section violently

Ancestral property dispute in Gadhinglaj turned violent when a doctor daughter attacked her elderly father, rammed him with a bike, and bit off part of his finger. Police registered a case and began investigation.

Kolhapur | November 19, 2025: A shocking incident from Gijwne village in Gadhinglaj taluka has highlighted how a long-running family property dispute spiraled into violence. Seventy-eight-year-old Ganpatrao Vishnu Halwankar was seriously injured after his own daughter allegedly assaulted him during an argument over ancestral land.

According to police, Ganpatrao had stepped out for an evening walk when his daughter, Dr. Shubhangi Sunil Nikam, intercepted him near a petrol pump on the Gijwne–Gadhinglaj road. She reportedly rammed her two-wheeler into him, knocking him to the ground. Moments later, she began shouting at him, accusing him of filing complaints against her, and threatened him with dire consequences.

Witnesses told police that Shubhangi kicked him repeatedly on the head and chest. When Ganpatrao tried to shield himself, she allegedly bit his right index finger with such force that the front portion tore off, causing heavy bleeding.

Ganpatrao immediately called his son, Uday Halwankar, who rushed to the spot and took him to the sub-district hospital. After first aid, he was shifted to CPR Hospital in Kolhapur for further treatment. His condition is currently stable but serious.

The family had been locked in a dispute over division of ancestral property for several months. Ganpatrao had earlier lodged complaints about verbal abuse and threats from Shubhangi on November 11 and 14. Instead of calming down, the conflict escalated and ended in this brutal assault.

Uday has filed a complaint against his sister at Gadhinglaj Police Station. An FIR has been registered and the investigation is underway under the supervision of Police Head Constable D. N. Patil. The case has caused widespread outrage in the area, highlighting how property conflicts can push families to dangerous extremes.
