Customers who have not completed Know Your Customer (KYC) verification may soon face disruption in domestic LPG cylinder supply, as gas distribution authorities urge consumers to update their details immediately.
Pune| March 9, 2026 :Domestic LPG consumers who have not completed their Know Your Customer (KYC) verification may soon be unable to receive household gas cylinders, according to an important advisory issued by gas distribution authorities. The move is part of an effort to ensure transparency in consumer records and prevent misuse of LPG connections.

Officials have indicated that LPG distributors are increasingly insisting on updated KYC documentation before processing cylinder bookings or deliveries. Consumers who fail to complete the required verification may experience delays or even a temporary suspension of supply until their records are properly updated.
The KYC process typically requires customers to submit valid identification and address proof to confirm the authenticity of their gas connection. Commonly accepted documents include Aadhaar card, voter ID, or other government-issued identification along with updated contact details such as a registered mobile number.
Authorities say the initiative aims to maintain accurate consumer databases and curb irregularities linked to multiple or inactive LPG connections. In recent years, government agencies and gas companies have been strengthening verification mechanisms to ensure that domestic LPG subsidies and benefits reach legitimate beneficiaries. According to officials familiar with the process, many consumers have already completed the KYC procedure, but a significant number of connections still remain unverified. Gas agencies have therefore begun issuing reminders through SMS alerts, phone calls, and notices at distribution centers, urging customers to complete the process without delay.
Consumers can update their KYC details by visiting their respective gas agency offices or by using authorized online portals provided by LPG distributors. In some cases, the verification process can also be completed by submitting documents through mobile applications or customer service centers.
Industry sources say the move will help streamline LPG distribution systems and strengthen accountability across the supply chain. Ensuring accurate customer data also assists in preventing fraudulent connections and improves the efficiency of delivery networks.

Officials have advised consumers not to wait until their cylinder booking is rejected or delivery is halted. Instead, they are encouraged to verify their details as soon as possible to avoid inconvenience in the future.
Domestic LPG remains an essential service for millions of households across the country, making uninterrupted supply crucial for daily cooking needs. Authorities emphasize that the KYC requirement is a routine verification process designed to improve service delivery rather than restrict access to consumers.Customers who are unsure about their KYC status have been advised to contact their local gas agency or check their account details through official customer service platforms. Completing the verification process promptly will ensure continued access to domestic LPG cylinder supply without any disruption.
