PMC’s junior engineer exam for 169 vacancies, scheduled on December 1, may be postponed due to civic polls on December 2 — candidates demand new date and fair centre allocations.

Pune, 27 November 2025: The PMC junior engineer exam for 169 vacancies, originally scheduled for December 1, is likely to be postponed due to its proximity to the civic elections on December 2. Around 42,000 candidates had applied for the posts, but many may face conflicts with election duties, making it difficult to attend the exam. Concerns have also been raised about exam centres being assigned far from candidates’ homes, in some cases up to 300–400 km away, adding further logistical challenges.

Political leaders and local observers have requested the government to reschedule the exam to ensure fairness, allowing candidates to participate without compromising their voting rights or facing undue travel burdens. PMC officials have indicated that a final decision on the new date will be announced soon, acknowledging the need to re‑arrange centres, issue new admit cards, and manage other logistics. This situation underscores the recurring challenge of balancing recruitment schedules with election commitments, and a postponement appears to be the most practical solution for maintaining equity for all candidates.
