Pune Police arrested an externed man for allegedly brandishing a sickle and threatening residents in the Dhayari area, creating panic before being detained.
Pune, December 15, 2025 – Panic gripped the Dhayari area of Pune after an externed man allegedly threatened residents by openly brandishing a sickle, prompting swift police action. The incident occurred in the Nanded City area, where frightened locals alerted authorities after witnessing the man creating fear in the neighbourhood.
According to police officials, the accused had been externed from the city due to his criminal background but was found violating the externment order by entering Pune. Witnesses reported that he was seen roaming the area with a sickle in hand and issuing threats, causing alarm among residents, shopkeepers and passersby.
Upon receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. The accused attempted to flee but was intercepted and taken into custody. Police recovered the sickle used to threaten residents and confirmed that the man had no legal permission to be present in the city at the time of the incident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused has a history of criminal cases registered against him, which had led to his externment from Pune limits. Police said that despite the restrictions imposed on him, he returned and attempted to intimidate locals, creating a serious law-and-order situation.
