Family Brings Employee’s Body to M.J. College After Alleged Exploitation and Dismissal Row

A contractual employee at M.J. College died by suicide after alleged financial exploitation and sudden dismissal. His family brought the body to the campus demanding action against those accused of pushing him to this situation.

Jalgaon | November 19, 2025: A tense situation unfolded at M.J. College in Jalgaon after the family of Mahesh Bhaskarrao Savdekar, a 52-year-old contractual employee, brought his body into the college premises, demanding action against those they claim drove him to take his life.

Savdekar, a resident of Devidas Colony, had been working at the college on a contractual basis for several years. According to his wife, Yashodhara, the family had allegedly paid around fifteen lakh rupees to the institution’s management over the years in the hope of securing a permanent position for him. She stated that despite the payment and years of service, Savdekar was neither regularised nor treated fairly at work.

She further alleged that although the college showed a higher salary amount on official records, her husband was paid much less in hand. More recently, Savdekar was removed from his contractual job, and his repeated attempts to return were met with evasive responses. His wife said he had been under severe stress and would often tell her he was no longer welcomed at the college.

On Monday, while his wife and son were away, Savdekar consumed poison at home. Neighbours informed his brother immediately, but he could not be saved. Family members claimed this was his second attempt, as he had earlier tried self-harm in June due to similar distress.

Following the incident, the family brought the body into the college compound, stating they would not remove it until action was taken against those responsible. This led to brief tension on campus before police intervened. The MIDC police have registered an accidental death report and further inquiries are under way.
