Phaltan| October 24, 2025: A tragic incident shook Phaltan on Thursday as a young female doctor employed at the Sub-District Hospital was found dead, reportedly by suicide. Authorities said the doctor had written a detailed suicide note, naming PSI Gopal Badne and police constable Prashant Bankar. In the note, she alleged that PSI Badne had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions, while Bankar had subjected her to continuous mental harassment.
According to sources, the doctor had previously reported these incidents to her superiors and the health department. She expressed fear and distress, stating she would take extreme steps if the harassment continued. Over the past few months, she had been caught in disputes related to medical examinations and departmental protocols with police authorities.
The suicide has raised serious concerns regarding the safety and mental well-being of women working in government institutions.
