Ahilyanagar (Maharashtra)|February 22, 2026: Ahilyanagar: A criminal case has been registered against former Ahilyanagar mayor and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Abhishek Kalamkar after a 25‑year‑old woman accused him of repeated physical assault and abusive conduct following a bogus job offer.
According to the complaint lodged by the woman with MIDC Police Station, Kalamkar allegedly contacted her under the pretext of offering employment, leading her to believe there was a genuine job opportunity. The woman alleges that she was taken to various locations in Ahilyanagar and a lodge in nearby Shirur, Pune District, where she was repeatedly assaulted.

In her complaint, the woman also claimed that Kalamkar would video‑call her and coerce her to undress, subjected her to prolonged psychological distress, and threatened to circulate intimate recordings if she resisted his demands. She submitted video evidence to the police as part of her allegations.
Following receipt of the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other applicable laws. Upon filing of the case, Kalamkar absconded, and a manhunt is underway. Local police units have been deployed to locate and arrest him.
The allegations have triggered significant public and political reaction in Ahilyanagar, with calls for a thorough investigation and strict action without fear or favour. Efforts to obtain a statement from Abhishek Kalamkar have been unsuccessful as authorities continue their search
