Pune| February 13, 2026: Sixteen years after the devastating German Bakery bomb blast in Pune’s Koregaon Park, the trial of one of the key accused, alleged Indian Mujahideen operative Mohammed Ahmed Zarar Siddibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal, is still underway before a special court in Pune.
On the evening of February 13, 2010, a high‑intensity improvised explosive device detonated at the German Bakery, a popular café near the Osho International Meditation Resort in Koregaon Park, killing 17 people and injuring 56 others from India and abroad.
According to his 2013 confession recorded before a court in Telangana, Yasin originating from Bhatkal in Karnataka admitted involvement in the blast and recounted his trajectory from small‑business ventures to alleged extremist activities.Investigators say that after spending time in Dubai and receiving training in Pakistan in explosives and firearms, Yasin returned to India and, along with others, prepared improvised explosive devices used in multiple terror attacks. Prior to his 2013 arrest at the India–Nepal border, he had been linked to terror activities nationwide.

The Maharashtra Anti‑Terrorism Squad (ATS) later arrested Yasin in connection with the German Bakery case in March 2014, and a chargesheet was filed the same year. CCTV footage from the blast day reportedly shows the accused at the scene.
While some accused, including Mirza Himayat Baig, have faced convictions related to the bombing in earlier proceedings, Yasin’s trial continues amid legal and procedural delays. Authorities maintain the case is complex, involving multiple alleged operatives and cross‑border links to terror networks.
