In Pune, a girl accuses three of threatening to kill her, abducting an electrician and forcing bank account withdrawals after suspecting she took a photo. Case registered.
PUNE, 07 November 2025 – A teenage girl from the Ahilyanagar Road area near the Tata Guard Room has told police she was threatened with death after two boys and a girl accused her of taking their photo. The case took a more serious turn when the group allegedly abducted an electrician she knew, beat him, snatched his phone and forced him to withdraw money from his bank account. The girl says the harassment began back in 2022, when the suspects believed she had taken a picture of them and began following her. She filed a detailed complaint at the Airport Police Station describing both the threats and an incident of molestation.
According to the electrician’s statement, he had come to visit relatives in Gulmohar Royal Society when a watchman informed him that two boys were asking for him. The boys took him away on a bike under the pretext of going to the police station. Instead, they drove toward Ahilyanagar Road, where one of them accused him of taking pictures of the girl and threatened to kill him. They reportedly assaulted him, seized his phone and took control of his banking apps. The next morning, he found that multiple transactions had been made from his account, totalling Rs 10,195. He told police he had revealed his PINs under fear of violence.
The girl says one of the accused confronted her separately and warned that if she did not “admit taking their photo,” they would kill her. She also told police that one of them had molested her. Police have begun verifying her claims and are analysing whether the phone used to take photos was accessed or tampered with during the crime.
Investigators are now checking CCTV footage, bank transaction logs and mobile-app records to trace exactly how the withdrawals were made and whether more people were involved. Officers are also cross-checking statements from all parties to determine how long the intimidation had been going on and whether earlier threats were ignored or unreported. Police say charges related to kidnapping, extortion, molestation and criminal intimidation are likely as evidence develops.
Residents in the area say the case has shaken them, mainly because a minor dispute over a photograph escalated into a violent, coordinated act involving threats, abduction and financial exploitation. Police have appealed to the public to avoid confronting people over mobile-phone suspicions and to immediately report intimidation instead of trying to handle matters privately.
