Kolhpur|08 December 2025: In a tragic incident on the early morning of 07 December 2025, a truck carrying goats overturned near Vhannur village on the Kagal–Nidori road, resulting in the death of approximately 200 goats.
The truck registered under KA11D 0927 was transporting livestock from Rajasthan towards Karnataka. It was carrying over 220 goats, tightly packed in three separate compartments. The vehicle lost control while negotiating a sharp curve near “Khot Mallya” area close to Vhannur, causing it to overturn.

Residents and travellers passing by witnessed the horrifying scene: goats trapped under the truck and many lifeless bodies strewn across the road. The driver and cleaner in the truck narrowly escaped, but the loss to the livestock consignment and consequently to the traders is massive.
Local voices have raised concerns about the dangerous nature of that particular bend on the Kagal–Nidori route. They demand the authorities inspect and repair such hazardous curves to prevent future accidents.
This accident adds to a growing pattern of livestock‑transport tragedies across the region, prompting renewed calls for stricter oversight on overloading, safer transport practices, and improved road maintenance especially on routes frequented by heavy load traffic.
