March 12, 2026 | Pimpri-Chinchwad The escalating geopolitical tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States in the Gulf region have started impacting industrial operations in India, particularly affecting small-scale enterprises in the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial belt.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Sandeep Belasare, President of the Pimpri Chinchwad Small Industries Association, said the ongoing conflict has disrupted global supply chains, leading to a sharp rise in raw material prices. At the same time, export-ready finished and semi-finished goods from India remain stranded at several ports due to logistical disruptions linked to the regional instability. Belasare further stated that imports of crucial industrial metals such as aluminium, copper and brass have been significantly delayed, creating shortages in the domestic market and affecting production schedules for several manufacturing units.

He also warned that interruptions in the supply of industrial gases have worsened the crisis for small manufacturers who rely heavily on continuous gas supply for daily operations. If the situation persists, many small-scale entrepreneurs may be forced to temporarily shut down their factories, he cautioned.

The press conference was attended by association vice-president Sanjay Jagtap, secretary Jayant Kad, former president Tatya Sapkal and director Sanjay Satav. The association has urged the central and state governments to intervene immediately to stabilise the supply chain and ensure uninterrupted availability of industrial gases. Association representatives have also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take urgent measures to safeguard small industries and protect thousands of workers dependent on the sector
