Pune, October 23, 2025 :- A 16‑year‑old student was brutally attacked in Hadapsar after he refused to hand over money to a man who arrived drunk and demanded cash. The incident occurred on the night of October 19 at around 9:30 pm at Rasvanti Griha, a juice stall run by the boy’s mother. The Hadapsar Police have arrested two suspects identified as Shubham Kiran Pawar and Abhishek Sunil Supekar, both residents of Vetalbaba Vasahat, Hadapsar, and the case is under investigation by Assistant Sub‑Inspector Shiklagar.
According to the police complaint filed by 11th‑grade student Prathamesh Arun Salunkhe, the accused first entered the juice stall asking for money to buy alcohol. When Prathamesh refused and objected to the aggressor’s attempt to take money from the establishment, the situation escalated. One of the men allegedly threatened the teenager, saying, “You are a child in front of me; I am a brother from here, I will use a scythe,” and then called his accomplice. Both men attacked Prathamesh, leaving him injured and shaken.
Local residents and the stall owner’s family intervened and took the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injuries were treated and documented, after which Prathamesh approached Hadapsar Police Station to file a formal complaint. The swift registration of the FIR and the CCTV review in the area helped the police identify and locate the suspects. Following enquiries and evidence collection, the police detained Shubham Pawar and Abhishek Supekar and formally arrested them in connection with the assault.
Police officials said the attack reflects a worrying trend of public intimidation and violence linked to alcohol and petty extortion near small businesses. The accused have been booked under relevant sections for assault and intimidation; the exact charges will be confirmed as the investigation proceeds. Assistant Sub‑Inspector Shiklagar is leading the probe, collecting witness statements and reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding lanes to determine whether additional persons were involved or if there are prior complaints against the accused.
Community members in Hadapsar expressed shock at the incident, saying that Rasvanti Griha run by the victim’s mother is a familiar neighborhood spot and the attack has unsettled residents, especially since it targeted a minor. Neighbors urged stronger patrolling and quicker police response to discourage such incidents. Police officials reiterated that citizen cooperation and timely reporting were crucial in the prompt arrests and urged anyone with further information to come forward.
The case has also raised questions about safety around small businesses and the need to protect minors from street violence. Legal experts note that while the juvenile status of the victim does not change the severity of the crime, it does require sensitive handling during investigation and trial proceedings. The Pune Police have assured fair and thorough investigation and said the accused will face the consequences if found guilty.
As the investigation continues, the Hadapsar community is watching for follow‑up action from law enforcement and local authorities to ensure both accountability and improved safety measures. The police have promised regular updates and said they will pursue the matter diligently to prevent similar incidents in the future.
