Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh | October 11, 2025 — Pooja Shakun Pandey, a prominent leader of the Hindu Mahasabha and Mahamandaleshwar of the Niranjani Akhara, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Aligarh businessman Abhishek Gupta. The incident, which occurred on September 26, 2025, shocked the local community and drew national attention.

According to police reports, Pandey and her husband, Ashok Pandey, who is also associated with the Hindu Mahasabha, allegedly orchestrated the murder of Gupta, the owner of a bike showroom in Aligarh. Investigations revealed that Gupta had been in a relationship with Pandey, and the murder was reportedly planned due to personal and business-related disputes.

Following the murder, Pandey went into hiding, and a reward of ₹25,000 was announced for information leading to her arrest. She was eventually apprehended in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, after being on the run for nearly two weeks.

This case has sparked widespread controversy, given Pandey’s previous actions, including a 2019 incident where she was arrested for firing at an effigy of Mahatma Gandhi, which drew criticism from various quarters.
