Pune| October 18,2025:Pune police have filed a case against absconding gangster Nilesh Ghaywal and his associates for posting crime reels on social media that aimed to instill fear among the public. The reels, shared via accounts in Ghaywal’s name, allegedly showcased criminal activities and gang operations, creating widespread alarm in Kothrud and surrounding areas.

Following the viral circulation of these videos, Kothrud Police Station swiftly registered a case under provisions relating to spreading terror and promoting criminal behavior online. Investigations revealed that Ghaywal had illegally occupied 10 flats in the Kothrud area, which were being rented out to generate income.

Acting on these findings, the Police Commissioner has ordered the flats to be vacated immediately and sealed as part of a broader crackdown on Ghaywal’s illegal activities. Authorities continue to pursue the fugitive gangster, who remains wanted in a shooting case in Kothrud.

The case underscores the increasing use of social media by criminals to project power and intimidate local communities. Police officials have urged citizens to report suspicious accounts or content promoting crime and terror. The ongoing operation is part of Pune Police’s wider effort to maintain law and order while preventing misuse of digital platforms for criminal purposes.
