Husband and Wife Killed, Son Critically Injured in Truck Collision at Kanchanwadi, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A tragic road accident at Kanchanwadi claimed the lives of a married couple, while their son remains in critical condition after a collision with a heavy goods truck.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar | November 14, 2025:  In a devastating incident at Kanchanwadi, a husband and wife lost their lives and their 12‑year‑old son sustained critical injuries after their vehicle collided with a heavy goods truck early morning on Saturday. The upset vehicle, according to preliminary police reports, was travelling from the village towards the main highway when the collision occurred.

The couple, identified as Mr. Amit Patil (37) and Mrs. Pooja Patil (34), died at the scene. Their son, Shivam Patil, who was seated in the back seat, was rushed to a hospital where he is currently under intensive care for multiple internal injuries and a fractured skull. Local police say that the truck driver failed to negotiate a curve on the rural road and lost control, leading to the fatal crash.

Residents who witnessed the aftermath described a scene of chaos, with villagers rushing to the site and calling emergency services. Traffic on the connecting road to the highway was disrupted for several hours as rescue teams cleared the wreckage and coordinated the medical evacuation.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Rural Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and are investigating whether driver fatigue, overspeeding, or mechanical failure played a role. The truck is impounded for examination and the driver has been taken into custody for questioning.

Village authorities and the local administration have pledged to support the surviving boy and offer whatever medical or financial assistance possible. The incident highlights the need for improved road safety measures on rural routes leading to major highways specifically, clearer signage, speed breakers, and better lighting.
