A man has been arrested by Talegaon Dabhade police for beating his wife and attempting to kill her by pressing his safety shoe to her neck after she failed to pick up his phone.

PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD, 15 November 2025 – A disturbing case of domestic violence has come to light in Talegaon Dabhade, where a 44-year-old man was arrested for brutally assaulting his wife because she did not pick up his phone call. The accused, Santosh Nagappa Bisnal of Mhalaskarwadi, allegedly returned home on the evening of 12 November, became enraged when his wife Rajshri did not answer his call, and launched into a violent attack inside their house.

According to the complaint, the assault began with kicks and blows, but quickly escalated when Santosh pressed his heavy safety shoe against his wife’s throat while threatening to kill her. He also kicked her in the chest and stomach, causing injuries that forced the woman to seek immediate help. Terrified for her life, she approached the police and filed a formal complaint at Talegaon Dabhade Police Station.

Police acted swiftly and arrested the accused. Investigators say the attack reflects a pattern of possessive behaviour and escalating violence, though the presence of previous incidents is now being examined. Sub-Inspector Mulla is leading the probe, and officers have recorded the victim’s statement and documented injury marks for further legal proceedings.

The case has triggered concern among residents in the Maval belt, who say domestic crimes often go unreported until they reach a dangerous stage. Authorities have urged women in abusive situations to seek help early. Local organisations working on women’s safety have also responded, stating that such attacks highlight the urgent need for awareness, stronger community intervention and prompt policing.

As the investigation progresses, police will look into whether the accused had access to weapons, whether the violence was pre-planned, and whether neighbours witnessed earlier fights. The arrest has brought a measure of relief to the victim, and the police have assured strict action under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act, considering the severity of the assault and the direct threat to life.

This incident serves as a reminder of how quickly household disputes can escalate into life-threatening violence. Police have appealed to the public to report signs of domestic abuse immediately so intervention can occur before situations turn fatal. The case will proceed to court as evidence collection, medical reports and witness statements are completed.
