The Indian Coast Guard commissioned ICGS Amulya in Goa, a new-generation indigenous fast patrol vessel, enhancing surveillance, response capability and coastal security under Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
Goa|December 20 2025:The Indian Coast Guard on Thursday commissioned ICG Ship Amulya, the third vessel in the series of eight new-generation Adamya-class Fast Patrol Vessels, marking a significant milestone in India’s indigenous defence manufacturing journey. Built by Goa Shipyard Limited, the 51-metre-long ship reflects a strong push toward self-reliance, with over 60 percent indigenous content incorporated into its design and systems.

Named Amulya, meaning “priceless”, the vessel has been developed using a modern design approach that emphasises operational efficiency, endurance and rapid response. Powered by two advanced diesel engines generating 3,000 KW each, the ship can achieve a maximum speed of 27 knots and has an operational range of nearly 1,500 nautical miles, allowing it to remain deployed for extended maritime missions.
Equipped with state-of-the-art indigenous weapons and systems, Amulya offers high manoeuvrability and flexibility at sea. The vessel is designed to undertake a wide spectrum of tasks, including coastal surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue operations, anti-smuggling missions and pollution response. Its induction is expected to significantly enhance the Coast Guard’s ability to safeguard India’s maritime interests, particularly along the eastern seaboard.

The ship will be based at Paradip in Odisha and will operate under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North East). It will be commanded by Commandant (JG) Anupam Singh and crewed by five officers and 34 personnel.
The commissioning ceremony was presided over by Joint Secretary (IC), Ceremonial and Chief Administrative Officer Amitabh Prasad, and attended by senior Coast Guard officials, representatives of the Central and State governments, and officials from Goa Shipyard Limited. The induction of Amulya forms part of the Coast Guard’s ongoing fleet expansion programme aimed at strengthening coastal security and maritime governance.
