The 157th Passing Out Parade at IMA commissioned 525 cadets, including 34 foreign officers, celebrating leadership, valour, and duty, with awards recognising top performers and strengthening defence ties globally.


Dehradun | 16 December 2025: The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, witnessed a grand display of tradition, discipline, and pride today as the 157th Passing Out Parade was held at the historic Drill Square. The ceremony marked the commissioning of 525 Officer Cadets into the Indian Army, embodying the Academy’s motto, “Valour and Wisdom,” and reflecting years of rigorous training and unwavering commitment.

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, reviewed the parade and addressed the cadets, highlighting that the profession of arms is a sacred calling demanding dedication, selfless service, and, when necessary, ultimate sacrifice. He emphasised the evolving security environment, citing modern warfare, technological innovation, and diplomacy, referencing Operation SINDOOR as an example of coordinated military action. The COAS encouraged cadets to lead with integrity, adaptability, and ethical conduct, serving as role models for their units.

The event also celebrated 34 foreign cadets from 14 friendly nations, reinforcing international defence partnerships and fostering enduring friendships. General Dwivedi praised the Academy’s instructors and staff for shaping resilient officers and expressed gratitude to the families for their unwavering support. Invoking Chanakya’s wisdom, he reminded cadets that duty and righteousness endure beyond life’s transient pursuits.

Awards for exemplary performance were presented by the Reviewing Officer. Academy Cadet Adjutant Nishkal Dwivedi received the Sword of Honour and Gold Medal, while other top performers included Battalion Under Officer Badal Yadav (Silver Medal), Senior Under Officer Kamaljeet Singh (Bronze Medal), Officer Cadet Jadhav Sujeet Sampat, Wing Cadet Captain Abhinav Mehrotra, and Officer Cadet Sunil Kumar Chhetri. Junior Under Officer Mohammad Safin Ashraf from Bangladesh was awarded the First in Order of Merit among foreign cadets. Imphal Company received the COAS Banner as overall top-performing company.

The parade concluded with the traditional ‘Antim Pag,’ symbolising cadets’ transition into commissioned officers ready to serve the nation with honour, courage, and professionalism. The 157th Course exemplifies IMA’s legacy of producing leaders equipped to navigate modern challenges while upholding India’s sovereignty and military excellence.
