For the 2026 Indian Premier League mini‑auction, only 350 of 1,355 registered players made the final shortlist 35 names added late, including Quinton de Kock, ahead of December 16 auction.
Mumbai| 09 December 2025:The upcoming 2026 mini‑auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will feature just 350 cricketers a sharp cut from the 1,355 players who initially registered. The final shortlist was announced on 9 December, following intense deliberations by franchises and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
In a surprise move, 35 players who were absent from the original list have now been added. Among them is South Africa’s veteran wicket‑keeper batter Quinton de Kock, marking a notable late return to the auction pool. His base price has been re‑set at ₹1 crore, down from ₹2 crore in the previous mega auction.
The new breakdown includes 240 Indian players and 110 overseas names. The mini‑auction scheduled for 16 December at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi will see franchises competing for 77 available slots, out of which 31 are reserved for overseas recruits.

High‑profile names such as Cameron Green, Devon Conway, and Venkatesh Iyer are expected to draw strong bidding, while the inclusion of new entrants especially overseas players adds fresh unpredictability to team strategies.
With such a streamlined pool, team managements may find it easier to zero in on specific skills and value picks. The late inclusion of players like de Kock could alter teams’ plans, especially for those looking for experienced keepers or middle‑order batsmen.
As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on how franchises leverage this trimmed list and whether surprise additions turn out to be bargain buys or strategic game‑changers.
