A major political storm brews in Maharashtra as MLA Sanjay Gaikwad accuses the Thackeray-led faction and Election Commission of enabling voter-list fraud involving thousands of fake and deceased voters in Buldhana.

Buldhana|Maharashtra,October 31, 2025:A fresh controversy has erupted in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district after Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Sanjay Gaikwad levelled explosive allegations of voter list manipulation. According to Gaikwad, more than one lakh bogus names have been deliberately retained in the rolls, including duplicate entries and even names of people who died years ago. He accused officials of turning a blind eye to repeated complaints filed by his office, suggesting political interference in the process.

Gaikwad claimed that despite written appeals and verification drives, the Election Commission has failed to conduct a transparent audit of the electoral records. “It’s not just negligence; it’s a systematic attempt to influence upcoming elections,” he alleged. The MLA demanded a judicial inquiry into what he described as a “planned voter scam” designed to distort the democratic process in Buldhana.

Local activists have echoed these concerns, calling for public disclosure of voter verification data. Meanwhile, opposition leaders have demanded immediate suspension of officials responsible for maintaining the rolls. The Election Commission, however, has maintained silence on the issue, stating only that verification procedures are ongoing.

As political tensions rise, citizens are urging for an impartial investigation to restore trust in the electoral process. The incident has reignited debate about transparency and accountability within Maharashtra’s voter registration system.
