Is Manohar Shinde Leaving Congress to Join BJP Ahead of Local Polls in Satara?

Reports suggest that Manohar Shinde, former deputy mayor of Malkapur and close to Prithviraj Chavan, may resign from Congress and join BJP imminently in Satara.

Satara | November 05, 2025:Political currents are shifting in Satara as Manohar Shinde, former deputy mayor of Malkapur and a Congress leader close to ex-CM Prithviraj Chavan, is reportedly preparing to join the BJP.

According to reports, Shinde met BJP minister Shivendrasinh Raje Bhosale and Dr. Atul Bhosale in Mumbai, and his induction into BJP is expected “very soon.”Local observers say the move would mark another significant blow to Congress in Satara district, a region long considered a bastion for the party. Political tension has already picked up ahead of the upcoming local body elections. Congress appears to be losing some key ground as defections mount.

If the shift happens, it would deepen the BJP’s penetration into local politics in Satara especially in constituencies like Karad South and Malkapur, once considered Congress strongholds.

Neither Shinde nor senior Congress leaders have yet made a formal announcement, but grass-root rumours suggest the transition could be confirmed within a day or two.
