Kalyan Railway Station: 8-Month-Old Baby Kidnapped From Sleeping Parents, Rescued Within 6 Hours

A baby was abducted from a footbridge at Kalyan station while the parents slept. Police rescued the infant within six hours, arresting the nephew and aunt accused of the kidnapping.
Kalyan | November 05, 2025: In a shocking incident early Monday morning, an eight-month-old baby was taken from his parents while they slept on a foot over-bridge at Kalyan Railway Station.
The parents, who had arrived from Pune in search of work, had no access to housing and ended up sleeping on the bridge. At around 4 AM, a young man approached the family and quietly picked up the infant.By the time the parents awoke around 6 AM, the baby was gone. Alarmed, they immediately approached Kalyan GRP police who registered the case.
Over the next several hours, the police combed through CCTV footage and eventually traced the baby’s abductor to the Syndicate Area of Kalyan. He was identified as Akshay Khare. His aunt, Savita Khare, was also implicated.
Within about six hours of the complaint being filed, both accused were arrested and the baby rescued safely.Authorities suspect the motive may have been to sell the baby, but investigations are ongoing.
Local police praised the speed and coordination of GRP and city police in this case, noting that quick action saved the child.
