Kharadi Residents Celebrate as Societies Stay in Ward 4 After PMC Delimitation Revision

Pune, October 06, 2025: In a significant victory for Kharadi residents, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has revised its draft ward delimitation plan, ensuring that key residential societies remain within Ward 4. This decision comes after weeks of protests and coordinated citizen advocacy, where residents expressed concerns over the initial proposal that aimed to shift several societies to Ward 15.
Prominent societies such as Nyati Empire, Nyati Enclave, Riverdale, Liviano, and Zen Estate had been slated for reassignment, leading to widespread opposition. The Kharadi Housing Societies Welfare Association (KHSWA) spearheaded a structured objection campaign, submitting formal letters and petitions to PMC officials. Residents collected over 2,500 signatures through a Change.org petition and organized meetings to voice their concerns.
The revised plan now keeps all of Kharadi, including Riverfront Road and adjoining localities, unified under Ward 4. This realignment not only preserves administrative clarity but also sets a precedent for respecting community-driven boundaries in urban planning. Residents view this outcome as a triumph of local representation over arbitrary changes, affirming the significance of every resident’s voice in shaping the future of their neighborhood.
The final ward structure for the upcoming civic elections has been approved, with major changes made in 12 wards, including Kharadi. The revised boundaries aim to enhance community unity and create sensible ward divisions, reflecting the evolving needs of Pune’s rapidly developing areas.
