Nomination filings are underway for elections to 10 municipalities and 3 nagarpanchayats in Kolhapur, with dozens of candidates registering amid refreshed ward reservations and rising competition.

Kolhapur, November 15, 2025: The election race has officially begun across Kolhapur district, as nomination filings open for ten municipal councils (nagar parishads) and three nagarpanchayats. The filings reflect strong interest: officials reported that 12 nominations had been submitted for the mayoral posts and 226 for council seats as of midday.

Voting is scheduled for December 2, with counting on December 3. Candidates must now compete in a tightly timed schedule. Key political parties have already adjusted their strategies in light of ward‑level reservation updates. Many seats now carry new categories, increasing the field of candidates and prompting parties to find strong contenders quickly.

The increasing intensity was clear as grassroots campaigning started in earnest; candidates launched door‑to‑door efforts and turned to social media immediately after reservation allocations were announced.
Administratively, authorities have deployed teams to handle 20 distinct subjects, including voter lists, EVMs, law and order and code of conduct compliance, preparing for a smooth election process.

With nomination filings accelerating and party strategies evolving rapidly, Kolhapur’s local‑body elections are shaping up to be a closely watched contest. As ward‑level demographics shift and stakes rise, both political veterans and fresh aspirants are stepping into the race. The coming weeks will reveal how this newly‑energised electoral arena unfolds.
