Kolhapur Industrial and Hotel Gas Supply Temporarily Halted, Domestic Cylinders Remain Steady

Kolhapur | 11 March, 2026: The supply of industrial‑grade and commercial LPG cylinders to hotels and business establishments in Kolhapur has been temporarily stopped following a district order, even as domestic gas deliveries remain uninterrupted and sufficient, officials said on Wednesday. The move comes against the backdrop of ongoing global energy market uncertainties, which have disrupted supply chains for LPG and related fuels.

Kolhapur’s district authorities clarified that the pause in commercial gas supply affects only industrial users and restaurants, and is aimed at prioritising essential household cooking gas. Collector Amol Yedage informed local media that domestic gas bookings and supply will continue smoothly and assured residents that there is no need to worry about household cylinder availability.

The temporary suspension of LPG distribution to hotels and industrial outlets has already forced several establishments to rethink operations, with some hotels reducing services and others limiting customer intake due to lack of fuel. Local hotel associations have voiced concerns that prolonged disruptions could negatively impact business, especially as the hospitality sector tries to recover from economic pressures.

Rumours about a looming shortage of cooking gas also triggered long queues outside several distribution centres in parts of the city on Wednesday morning, despite authorities stressing that domestic gas availability is normal and under control. Officials reiterated that the current disruption is limited to commercial supplies and is part of logistical adjustments in response to wider market impacts.
