Pune shoppers eye DMart’s weekend sales and Monday clean-up days to maximise savings, while avoiding peak crowds.

Pune | November 24, 2025: Pune’s DMart stores continue to draw massive footfall, especially on weekends, as shoppers look to stretch their budgets amid rising prices. But seasoned customers across the city say there is a “right day” and a “right time” to shop if one wants the highest savings with minimal crowd chaos. What emerges is a clear pattern: weekends mean more offers but heavier crowds, while weekdays — especially Monday — often bring quieter aisles and surprising markdowns.

Many regulars say Friday, Saturday, and Sunday usually see broader offers across categories such as groceries, toiletries, cleaning products, and packaged foods. These weekend discounts attract large crowds, leading to long billing queues, overflowing trolleys, and packed parking areas. Despite this congestion, most shoppers still prefer weekends because the range of deals is wider, making it ideal for monthly stocking up.

However, another group of buyers insists that Monday is the smartest day to visit. According to them, some DMart outlets tend to clear unsold weekend stock at even better prices. This results in spontaneous markdowns on items like snacks, cereals, kitchen supplies, soaps, detergents, and seasonal goods. These additional reductions are not always advertised, so weekday shoppers often describe it as “finding hidden deals before others do.”

Regular DMart shoppers using the brand’s online platform and mobile app also report strong savings through digital-exclusive offers. Discounts on household essentials, app-only combo packs, and limited-time price drops often go live on Mondays and Wednesdays, making midweek ordering another smart strategy for bargain hunters.

Despite the savings, many Pune residents say the weekend rush can be overwhelming. Families often avoid peak evening hours because aisles become extremely crowded. Some shoppers prefer early mornings on weekdays when the store is quieter and shelves are freshly stocked.

Analysts note that DMart’s business model — based on high turnover, strict inventory discipline, and consistently low margins — allows the retailer to offer lower prices than most competitors on a daily basis. Occasional spikes in discounts on particular days simply enhance the value-driven experience and help attract both bulk buyers and deal seekers.

The evolving shopping behaviour in Pune highlights a broader trend: customers are becoming more strategic, planning weekly grocery runs around price cycles, crowd patterns, and app-based promotions. With household budgets tightening, DMart continues to be a top choice for affordable shopping.
