Maharashtra government sanctioned 1,000 acres of Ratnapuri Mala land to MIDC for a new industrial estate in Indapur, expected to fuel investment, employment and infrastructure in Pune district.
Indapur| February 11, 2026:The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday unanimously approved the transfer of approximately 1,000 acres of land at Ratnapuri Mala in Indapur taluka of Pune district to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), marking a major stride in the state’s strategy to decentralise industrial growth and unlock fresh economic potential in rural Maharashtra.

Cabinet sources said the land being handed over to MIDC was previously under the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation, and its reallocation follows sustained advocacy by regional leaders and policymakers who have long sought to boost industrial activity beyond the state’s urban centres. Senior officials noted that the decision comes during a period of renewed focus on balanced regional development and job creation.

The new MIDC industrial estate is anticipated to attract significant investments from manufacturing, logistics, and technology sectors, positioning Indapur and surrounding regions of Baramati and wider Pune district as emerging industrial destinations. Planning will commence soon, with authorities outlining phased development to establish essential infrastructure including roads, utilities, and industrial plots that can be marketed to both domestic and international investors.
Local economic analysts said this approved land transfer is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, particularly for youth in Indapur, and could catalyse the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that support larger industrial units. They also highlighted that improved industrial infrastructure often stimulates ancillary services such as logistics, housing, and hospitality, contributing to broader rural economic upliftment.

Leaders from the region welcomed the decision, pointing out that it fulfils a long-standing development vision and will enhance the economic landscape of a region traditionally reliant on agriculture. With MIDC now empowered to initiate groundwork, stakeholders remain focused on translating the land allocation into tangible opportunities for investors and the local workforce alike.
