State authorities have made it mandatory to obtain prior family approval before registering any organization, trust, or foundation using the name, image, or memorial of the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Baramati | 11 March, 2026: The Maharashtra government has issued strict guidelines regarding the use of the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s name, image, or memorials. Any institution, trust, foundation, or similar entity intending to use his name must now secure written consent from the family. The directive, issued by Special Executive Officer Sunil Kumar Musle on behalf of the Deputy Chief Minister’s office, has been sent to all relevant state offices.

The move comes amid concerns that, while many memorials, statues, and educational or charitable institutions are created with good intentions, there is potential for misuse of Ajit Pawar’s name for personal or commercial gain. Authorities have emphasised that all future memorial constructions, public statues, or registrations of new trusts or foundations in his name must strictly follow the family consent requirement.

Additionally, the letter highlights that any entity attempting to raise funds using Ajit Pawar’s name without proper authorisation should be thoroughly investigated. Existing institutions that already use his name are also required to comply with the same regulations. The government further instructed that all public monuments and memorials should adhere to standards prescribed by the state and Supreme Court guidelines.

This step aims to preserve the legacy and goodwill of Ajit Pawar while preventing any misuse or unauthorised exploitation of his name in social, educational, or charitable activities.
